The crash of Louisville leads to a dramatic rescue of the Semi truck driver, which dangles from the bridge

Louisville, Ky. – A truck driver was saved after an accident left his hanging over the side of a bridge on the I-65 in Louisville, Kentucky.

“I'm just hanging over the bridge, I don't want to die,” said the truck driver about a 911 dispatcher.

The driver called in 911 while he was caught in the cabin. He stayed on the line for 18 minutes in the shocking minutes.

“Would you like to help her, I'm just there … I'll just fall off the bridge,” said the driver. “I'm really afraid of pulling the truck now.”

At some point he makes a special request.

“Please, if I don't survive, can you just leave the recording for my family?” he asks.

While he was on the phone, the respondents hurried to create a rescue plan.

“If you can imagine when you are on an intergovernmental state, it is an extremely dangerous position to set up any kind of operation,” said chief Brian O'Neill, the fire brigade of Louisville.

The crews used a rope system to reduce a rescuer into the cabin. The rescuer then joined the driver and raised him to safety – everything within about 30 minutes.

A remarkably similar scene only played in Louisville last year, when dozens of firefighters worked for almost an hour to save the driver of a truck that dangled from another bridge.

In this latest crash, the police examine how the driver lost control.
