A Butler man was charged after he injured a pedestrian and fled from the appearance of a crash after the suspect had hit the victim on a bike.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m. Monday, the first aid Butler City were called to cross the North Main Street and the Locust Street for a bicycle accident with pedestrians.

The responding officials found the victim, a 77-year-old man, on the street treated by the EMS staff.

The officials found that three people tried to cross the road when the cyclist traveled north to the Main Street, and struck the victim, knocking him to the ground, according to a press release from Butler City.

The cyclist fled the scene after the crash.

Officers used camera material to identify the suspicious Lee Hodgins, 57, from Butler. Hodgins were interviewed and then charged with death or serious physical injuries for a crime.

Hodgins were set up in the Butler County prison to expect an indictment.

From 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the victim was in a severe but stable state in a hospital in Pittsburgh, the police said.
