Map shows the richest person in every state

The richest individuals in each state were unveiled after the first quarter of the year, and show that billionaires are present in almost all corners of the country, apart from three states.

The 2025 Forbes Ranking marks the third year in a row, in which the publication has followed the richest person in every state, and the combined net assets of these ultra-rich residents rose to $ 2 trillion, an increase of $ 400 billion compared to the previous year.

Why is it important

Forbes' annual ranking offers insights into the changing assets and the residences of the richest people in America. The concentration of the billionaire assets is still very distorted, and almost two thirds live in only four states: California, New York, Florida and Texas.

California in particular presents a violent competition, in which even tech titans such as Larry Ellison ($ 175 billion) and Google co-founder Larry Page ($ 135 billion) and Sergey Brin ($ 129 billion) were equipped by Mark Zuckerberg from Meta, whose net networks reached 189 billion assets.

What to know?

This year's list revealed five states in which new names have taken first place, driven by shifts between the local billionaires and not removes outside the state.

The former CEO of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer, claimed Washington's top spot with $ 118 billion and exceeded the co-founder Bill Gates, whose luck is now $ 108 billion.

In Missouri, David Steward, co-founder of World Wide Technology, became the richest inhabitant with net assets of $ 11.4 billion. He exceeded John Morris, founder of Bass Pro Shops, who now has an estimated 9.6 billion US dollar.

Arkansas also saw a change. Rob Walton, inheritance of the Walmart Fortune and Bentonville based, overtook his brother Jim Walton with an estimated 113 billion US dollar and beat Jims 112 billion dollars.

Her sister Alice Walton, the richest woman in the world with 104 billion US dollars, takes second place behind Elon Musk in Texas, who remains the richest person in the world with $ 388 billion. Musk moved from California to Texas in 2020.

In Wisconsin, Diane Hendricks, co -founder of ABC Supply, the richest inhabitant of the state who exceeded John Menard JR, and the assets of Hendricks were 21.9 billion US dollars compared to Menards $ 21.5 billion.

In New Jersey, a Shedge fund manager John Overdeck ($ 7.4 billion) was also recaptured the title of Cable Mogul Mogul Rocco Commisso ($ 5.8 billion).

Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, headed the list of Florida after moving from Washington to Miami in 2023. Bezos has an estimated net asset of 206 billion US dollars.

Ten states still have only one billionaire: Alabama, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, New Mexico, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota and Vermont. In the meantime, Alaska, Delaware and West Virginia remain the only states without a billionaire.

The richest person in West Virginia is Brad Smith, CEO of intuit and the current president of Marshall University, whose net assets are 900 million US dollars. Smith took over the title from the former governor of Milliardär, Jim Justice, who, according to Forbes, is no longer one of the ranks of the Ultra-Wealthy due to debt of more than $ 1 billion.

What happens next

Future ranking lists will probably not only pursue wealth, but also geographical changes, since billionaires are more open to migration between states, influenced by tax, politics and personal decisions.
