Poughkeepsia – the monitoring of video has caught an unknown man who broke a flag with a “pride” flag in Mill Street in Poughkeepsia. The police are looking for the public's support in identifying the man. The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 22nd, at 5.40 p.m. in Mill Street between N. Bridge and N. Perry Street.

The homeowner announced Mid-Hudson News that this is the third time that someone tried to either steal or condemn their pride. The two previous attempts were made by homeless men who had damaged several properties during their travels. However, according to the homeowner, this attempt was “a targeted attempt to remove the Pride flag as an attempt to intimidate homosexuals and their supporters.”

“It makes me sad that people define a flag regardless of their meaning, but I am not discouraged because I have replacement flags,” said Ryan Doughty. “There are numerous LGBTQ flags, and I change mine to support, educate and teach acceptance in our community.”

If someone recognizes the man in the picture or video or has information about the incident, you will be asked to call the city of the city of Poughkeepsia Confidential Tip Line under number 845-451-7577.
