US defense minister uses Signal much more often than expected – media reports

The reports indicate that Hegseth Signal was much more common for the exchange of encrypted messages than before.

According to Newsweek, the Pentagon boss ordered his helpers by signal in one case to inform foreign governments about ongoing military operation. In particular, Hegseth used the app for:

• Coordinate media appearances;
• Planning in overseas;
• Manage his schedule;
• Discussion of other non -classified but sensitive matters.

US defense minister personally created many chats on Signal and sent messages from an unsecured Ministry of Defense and from his personal phone.

Signal scandal

At the end of March, the editor-in-chief of the Atlantic, Jeffrey Goldberg, received access to a private signal chat in which strikes were discussed against Houthi positions in Yemen.

After the leak, the US Department of Defense carried out a cleaning. The following people were released:
