Jonesville killed teen, 2 more injured in the crash of Hillsdale Co.

Jonesville, Michigan (Wilx) – A teenager from Hillsdale County lost her life on Monday evening in a crash, officers from the Homer Community School said in a statement.

On Monday, shortly after 7 p.m., Michigan State Troopers were sent to the Genesee Road and the Bunn Road in Jonesville to receive reports about a single car accident.

There soldiers found a 2006 Chevy Silverado, which was crashed into a tree stump. The vehicle had been driven by a 16-year-old Litchfield boy with two other teenage passengers.

None of the teenagers wore seat belts, which led to the passengers being ejected out of the truck.

A passenger, an 18-year-old from Jonesville, was seriously injured. The teenager was taken to the hospital, but he would not survive.

The other two teenagers, both 16, had minor injuries and refused medical treatment. Soldiers do not believe that drugs or alcohol were factors.

The soldiers believe that the truck was directed to the east on the Genessee Road when the driver lost control of a curve and hit the blunt.

All three teenagers were students at Homer Community Schools. Consultants will be available in grief from Homer Schools, according to the district on Tuesday morning.

Homer students and families affected by the tragedy are asked to contact the school for consulting services under number 517-568-4464.
