Borrego trained the Charlotte Hornets from 2018 to 2022, where he led the organization to a record of 138-163. The 47-year-old was in the league for three years before he came to the employees of Pelican's head coach Willie Green last season. The 14-year-old NBA trainer veteran has the experience that makes him a practical option for the Suns job.

Joerger has two three-year-old stints as a NBA head coach. The first occurs from 2013-2016 with the Memphis Grizzlies. In his first two years with the franchise, he trains the team on two seasons on the back-to-back games. Joerger ended his last season with the grizzlies with a 42-40 record before releasing this off-season after being swept into the playoffs.

The Sacramento Kings commissioned Joerger to train for them from 2016 to 2019. The 51-year-old fought with the organization with a combined record of 59-105 in his first two years. In the 2018-2019 season, however, Joerger led the Kings to a 39:43 record, his best record since 2006. Despite the success, Sacramento Joerger has released, and as head coach, he had no further opportunity.

The Suns were able to give Joerger another chance of being a head coach after he had a short lease in his two previous stops. Regardless of this, the survey of candidates with Head Coaching experience for Gregory makes sense to cover the entire floor to ensure that the Suns set the best person for the job.
