The main crimes in the Bronx are increased as rapes, Grand theft and car theft by 7% bronx times

According to the new NYPD data, the main crimes in the Bronx rose by 7%over a period of 28 days from April 7 to May 4, with the recent downward trends triggered in reverse and concerns about the districts, in which some of the sharpest rapes, Grand Larcenies and Auto theft recorded some of the sharpest increases.

The NYPD reported a total of 2,370 main crimes in the same period of 2,215 incidents in the same period last year. The increase was largely heated by a strong increase in the reported rapes, which rose by 48.1% in the entire district – from 27 cases in 2024 to 40 this year.

The most dramatic spikes occurred in the 40th and 49th district. The 40th district, the Port Morris, Mott Haven and Melrose, rapes rapes from two cases last year to six. In the 49th district, the Allerton, Morris Park, Van Nest, Pelham Parkway, Eastchester Gardens and Pelham Gardens covers, rose from one to five cases.

Grand Larcenies also recorded a significant increase in the district, which rose from 635 cases in 2024 to 735 this year. The 45th district, which included Throgg's Hals, Co-OP City and City Island, recorded the steepest increase in this category, whereby the incidents almost doubled from 35 to 69.

The same district also recorded the most dramatic increase in vehicle thefts, which rose 108%from 25 to 52 cases. Borough-Wide, car theft rose from 328 to 388 incidents-one 18.3% pressing.

While attacks and burglaries of crimes recorded modest declines, these drops were outweighed by the increases of other categories. Overall, the data show a shift from the declines at the beginning of this year and underline the continuing challenges of public security in several Bronx city parts.

The NYPD has not yet announced any new strategies for contraception of crime that are specific for these trends, but the local districts are expected to increase the commitment and visibility of the community in areas, since the most sharply increase applications occur.
