meteorologist Lonnie Quinn has returned to work after a traumatic brain injury and took a break. At first the doctors cleared him, but later it was found that the injury was more serious than they had thought for the first time.

Lonnie had a CT scan that was negative. The doctors then told him that he was “free to go home”.

However, Lonnie said that the problem was that he started to suffer some other symptoms than he returned to work. In particular, he remembered an 11:00 a.m. news program in which he went on the set: “And suddenly I couldn't see from my left eye.”

“I couldn't go on under any circumstances. And it went away just as quickly. It was maybe 15 minutes,” he recalled.

Lonnie did the news program that evening and then the news director asked him to go to the hospital.

“There they resolved the CT scan again, but they said they have to pursue a neurologist, and the neurologist made an MRI, and it was only shown that it was a difficult situation,” he said.

The doctors told him that the situation would not only disappear by itself, which is why he had to take the time and calm. He was told that his brain would recover from the injury if he got enough sleep. At first his doctors advised him to work only for half days, and he promised that he would come back full -time after a “full recovery”. He decided to temporarily withdraw from the show to heal.

Lonnie returned on May 5, 2025 after his two -month absence from the absence of work CBS News. During the transmission, a video was played that shows the warm reception the WeatherCaster got when it came back to work. The people in the newsroom cheered and greeted him with hugs. He said the reaction “surprised” him. They also presented him with a cake. He spoke more about the incident and revealed that it was a traumatic brain injury.

“It was a very serious head injury. When the MRI came back, the doctors came in and said:” Ok [stick to] Quiet and relaxation and bring yourself back, ”he said.

After this emotional revelation, Lonnie jumped directly into the weather forecast for the coming week.

In the middle of his return to television CBS Weatherman Robert Marciano divided a contribution on Instagram that welcomes Lonnie to the work again.

It was a fun privilege to fill for him in the past few weeks while healing and working through the recovery of the concussion. We are all so excited to have him healthy and back in action !!”
