“Hatchet-Welding Hitchhiker” cannot sue because of Netflix Crime Doc: Report

New Jersey lawyers in California have asked a federal court to have submitted the dismissal of a lawsuit that was submitted by a man who was known as “Hatchet-Wielding Hitchhiker”, who claimed in a documentary in 2023 about his promotion to Viral Stard and his ultimate detention for killing a New Jersey Lawyer in New Jersey.

According to a NJ Advance Media Report, the lawyers submitted the application on behalf of the California nightclub Fulton 55, its general manager and other parties. In the lawsuit, Caleb “Kai” McGillvary claimed that they cheated on him, stole his performance recordings and made statements in the Netflix film “The Hatchet, Hitchhiker”.

Since then, McGillvary has taken against the court's decision to reject the lawsuit.

In a letter that was submitted to the US Court last week, the lawyers said that McGillvary's appeal did not identify a legal mistake in the decision of the under court to exclude his case, NJ Advance Media reported.

McGillvary was condemned in 2019 for the first degree murder in connection with the death of lawyer Joseph Galfy Jr., who was found to death in his house in Clark Township.

On May 13, 2013, the Clark police found that Galfys partially dressed by his bed in his house on Starlight Drive, according to the Union County public prosecutor.

McGillvary was identified as a suspect after an investigation and found three days after the murder in Philadelphia when an employee of a café recognized there and contacted the police. According to reports, he had cut his hair and fled the state after the crime.

Before McGillvary was known for this cruel murder, he was generally known as an internet. McGillvary, who was homeless at the time, was interviewed by a local team after saving a woman's life by attacking her attacker with a hatchet and “smashing” him on the head.

McGillvary even appeared in the Jimmy Kimmel Show and Justin Bieber's team turned to him.

McGillvary was arrested just a few months after entering the spotlight.

Almost ten years after the murder, Netflix published his documentary, which records the notorious true history of crime.
