The week for the appreciation of the teachers emphasizes the work teachers in the classroom

Parkersburg, W.VA. (WTAP) – National teacher -appreciation week emphasizes the work teachers in the classroom for their students.

The national week of teacher value estimation falls from May 5th to 9th.

The Parkersburg High School employs teachers who teach a variety of subjects. Joshua Dubbs, music teacher at PHS, said you have to have thick skin to be a teacher.

“It needs Grit to become a teacher. You have to feel very comfortable with yourself as a human being and how students and students make comments to things, or they will only make a sense of humor.

An usual day for a teacher is to lead students and ensure that they understand the learned material.

Teachers also build relationships with their students.

Lori Zyla, a theater and speech and debate teacher at PHS, said her favorite part of being a teacher, be it to get to know her students.

“My favorite part of being a teacher is to hang around with the children. I think it keeps you young, it keeps your perspective fresh, and I think teenagers are among the most interesting people on earth and I am glad that I can hang around as much as I do. We have a lot of fun together,” said Zyla.

Zyla and Dubbs both have a committed week to recognize teachers, but they said they felt all year round about appreciation.

“It is always great to know that the public makes time available to the public, but I would agree, as my colleague said, the little things throughout the school year that I do with my students and with my parents as a teacher,” said Dubbs.

Your advice on students who teach career is to be patient and know that it is not easy, but they get better.

“I would say, try to be flexible and sensible in your expectations and know that it is definitely not easy, but they get better in it,” said Zyla.

“College students have to learn to be patient and to take the process.
