Father remembers that teen son was killed at I-40. The police are looking for the passenger.

Nashville, Tenn. (WTVF) -A fatal crash closed the interstate for hours for hours after a driver crashed a stolen Ford fusion into the back of a semi -trailer and turned the car several times.

The Metro Nashville police said a teenager was thrown out of the vehicle during the crash on Saturday evening and then hit another car. He died at the scene.

The teenager was a chance Lee Kimbro, 17. The police believed that he was the one behind the wheel of the stolen vehicle.

Chris Kennedy, the father of chance, adheres to his son's memories.

“He loved playing with his brothers and playing his brothers jokes,” said Kennedy.

Chris grew up in a quarter in South Nashville and said he always wanted his children to have better chances – a real chance of a little more.

“We have to bring our children away from environments. It is the environment in which they are. Is this place bad? No, it can be a great place, but they have to change the environment,” said Kennedy.

Chris was able to pull out of the public living space and became the father figure he always wanted to be.

“I am basic values to my children,” said Kennedy.

But Chris' time with chance was canceled.

The Ford Fusion Chance was a semi-diaper in the I-40 West near the Spence Lane in the back. It was ejected from the car and hit by a third vehicle. He died at the scene.

“There was a lot of fear,” said Kennedy.

The police said the merger had only been stolen a few hours earlier, and a passenger ran away before the officials arrived.

Chris does not believe that his son was involved in the theft of the vehicle.

“In my understanding, my son didn't hit a car. He wasn't even to steal cars. He had no reason to do it,” said Kennedy.

He hopes that the person who was with his son that night will come forward.

“It closes.

But no matter what the investigators say, Chris knows what he has lost.

“I didn't know how to describe my son as if he had done something as a criminal,” said Kennedy. “He is a good child. A great child. I don't know if he knew or didn't know.”

And he will miss him very much.

“My son name is chance and I have the feeling that I only have a chance with my son,” said Kennedy.

According to the witnesses, Kimbro was at high speed and changed traces before the collision. At the scene there was no evidence of the participation of drugs or alcohol.

The police still want to speak to the Ford Fusion passenger who fled the scene.
