Trump meets with Canada's Carney, references to upcoming pharmaceuticals

Finance Minister Scott Bessent said on Tuesday at the Capitol Hill that new trade agreements with large partners could already be announced this week.

“Many of our trading partners made us very good offers, and we are in the process of negotiating them,” said Bessent and found that the United States is currently in conversations with 17 of its 18 most important trading partners with China.

“I would be surprised if we have no more than 80% or 90% of those who have been completed by the end of the year, and that can be much earlier than I would think. Maybe this week we will announce trade agreements with some of our biggest trading partners,” he added. “You came to us with very good offers.”

The finance minister said he expected a “significant reduction in tariffs for US goods, together with the removal of non-tariff obstacles, curbs for manipulation of currencies and limits for subsidies for work and capital investments.

Besser emphasized that the trade was a pillar of a wider economic agenda, which it described as the “three -legged chair” of trade, tax reform and deregulation. Overall, the trading negotiations increase quickly, and according to spokesman Johnson, the house will send its part of the Commercial Act to the memorial day to the memorial day.

The deregulation, he added, would take longer to influence the economy, but he expects to see meaningful advantages in the third and fourth quarter of this year and possibly fully compared to the same time in the previous year.
