The San Diego Padres Star Center Jackson Merrill's field was activated against the 10-day injured list before the road game on Tuesday evening against the New York Yankees.

Merrill missed the previous 24 games since he injured his right armpit. He last played on April 6th.

The injury occurred less than a week after Merrill agreed to extend a contract of nine years by $ 135 million during the 2034 season.

The All-Star 2024 took fourth place and played the midfield in the game on Tuesday against New York.

“I'm looking forward to this adrenaline boost,” Merrill told reporters before the game on Tuesday. “I haven't had it for a while.”

Merrill started strongly and scored in 10 games before the injury with three homes and 10 RBIs .378.

The most difficult thing for Merrill was how his teammates saw games play. He wanted to play.

“I didn't want to wait for me at all,” said Merrill. “I would have played injured all year round if I had. That was more your decision internal. But I appreciate the care you had for me.”

Merrill went 2: 6 in two rehab games for Triple-A El Paso.

Padres manager Mike Shildt said Merrill was ready to go.

“Just a very professional rehab,” said Shildt. “He dominated what he could do every day. … Great to have him back.”

Merrill, 22, scored in his rookie campaign .292 with 24 Homeruns, 90 RBis and 16 stolen bases in 156 games. He was second for the NL Rookie of the Year Honors behind Pittsburgh Pirates-Rechtshänder Paul Slenes.

Merrill's Clutch heroic deeds are known in San Diego as “Merrill Madness”.

San Diego expects the second Baseman Jake Croneworth to be back later this week. On Tuesday evening he started a rehabilitation stay in El Paso.

In nine games this season, Cronenworth beats two homers and five RBIs .257.

San Diego also selected the catcher Luis Campusano to El Paso to eliminate a squad square for Merrill. Campusano was hit in six bats for the Padres this season.
