Bassett Unified School District students Shot during school – San Gabriel Valley Tribune

A teenager who went to school was shot and injured in a car on Tuesday morning, May 6th, in Bassett by an armed suspect.

A second boy who went with the teenager was not injured.

Alejandro Alvarez, superintendent in the basset Unified School District, said both teenagers are students in the district. But he declined how old the boys are and which school they attended.

Bassett Unified has two high school. Bassett High School in 755 N. Ardilla Ave. and Nueva Vista High, a continuation school in which 904 N. Willow Ave.

The shootout occurred in the Amar Road between Millbury and Puente Avenues around 9:45 a.m., SGT of the sheriff. Brent del Valle said. He believes that the teenager who has been shot is 17.

The teenager went with someone else in the Amar Road towards Puente Avenue when a car fired fire and someone opened the fire in the limousine. The teenager was shot in the torso, he said.

Two suspects who were only described as a man and woman were in the car, said Del Valle. The car was last driven south in Puente Avenue, he added.

The employees of a local hospital called Sheriff's Industry Station over a shot victim about 30 minutes later, said Del Valle. The wounded teenager was brought to the hospital in a stable state, the Sgt said.

“My understanding is that he will go home tomorrow,” said Alvarez.

Bassett Unified has sent texts and e -mails to notify parents, he said.

The district has security and has also asked the Sheriff's department to offer additional security in the next few days, according to the superintendent.

“We don't expect any problems, but we take precautionary measures,” said Alvarez.
