Annie Macaulay confirms the divorce of 2Baba at Headies Awards

The actress Annie Macaulay publicly confirmed her divorce from the musician Innocent “2baba” Idibia during the 17th Headies award ceremony held on Sunday evening.

The film star, who had been silent on this matter for months, finally reacted while together with Farooq Oreagba put together the prize for the best AfroBeat singer of the year, which was celebrated in popularly “King of Steze” by Ojude Oba Festival in 2024.

As he introduced himself on the stage, Annie stumbled across her married name before he quickly corrected it and signaled her return to her maiden name.

The 17th Headies Awards, which took place on Sunday in Lagos, Nigeria, celebrated outstanding achievements in the Nigerian and African music scene.

In a highlight moment, Odumodublvck was crowned the next artist who defeated the candidates Slumipopi, Qing Madi and Ayo Maff.

The Headies Awards is a Premier Music Award platform that celebrates outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry.

This year's event is one of two editions, whereby the 18th edition is to take place in December to compensate for the lack of prices in 2024.

Headies recognizes Mohbad, price for the best street-hop artist.

The 17th Headies Awards paid tribute to the late AfroBeat singer Mohbad and celebrated his life, music and permanent effects on the fans.

A video montage with his music videos accompanied a story that highlighted his journey and influence.

The emotional tribute described Mohbad as a star whose spirit and voice would never be forgotten, and noticed that his music was more than just a noise, but a movement.

The tribute is partly: “Some voices are too powerful to be forgotten, some ghosts shine so brightly that they leave a brand that cannot be deleted. Mohbad was one of these stars. From the streets from Lagos to the heart of millions, Mohbad's music was more than sound; it was a movement … peace, in peace, Mohbad, their light never becomes a bland.”

Mohbad was also honored posthumously with his song “Ask an me” with the “best street-hop artist”.

The award was accepted in his name by members of his family, including his wife Wunmi, his son, Liam and the younger brother Adura.
