Male pedestrian killed by Ann Arbor vehicle crash

On Monday evening, a 22-year-old woman of Ann Arbor met a 79-year-old male pedestrian in the North Fourth Avenue and the East Huron Street in a white off-road vehicle. According to a preliminary investigation by Ann Arbor's police department, the traffic signal was driven to red when the man crossed the street in a wheelchair. He was then hit by a white SUV that drove east on East Huron. AAPD official, supported by the fire brigade of Ann Arbor and the ambulance of the Huron Valley, did the victim at around 11:58 p.m. before being taken to the hospital. He was later died for his injuries.

The driver of the SUV fled the scene before the officials arrived, but later she turned. She is currently in the Washtenaw County prison.

AAPD examines alcohol as a potential factor of the crash.
