High school senior, which was killed only a few hours after the prom on the car accident

A student of the Chicago High School tragically died in a car accident, hours after taking part in her senior qualification.

Tom'mya Lyons, 18, was killed in a car accident in Chicago on Sunday, May 4, at 4:30 a.m., the Illinois State Police said in a statement by people.

The Homewood Flossmoor High School Prom took place in the Field Museum in Chicago. It started on Saturday, May 3, at 8 p.m.

After the celebration, Lyons and her friend were in a vehicle that had crashed on the incoming Bishop Ford Expressway on the Sibley Boulevard Ramp. The driver, her 16-year-old friend, was not injured in the crash, said Illinois State Police according to WGN 9.

The authorities reacted to the scene, and Lyons was brought to a regional hospital in which it was passed away.

“He was cut off to get out of Expressway and lose control. I have no complete details,” said Charles Parker, stepfather of Lyons, to NBC 5.

This accident is still examined by Illinois State Police and there is no further information.

“Everything is surreal. I can't believe that we have sent them and celebrate them, prepare for the end and now they are celebrating the earth,” said Parker. “It's a hard pill that is now to be swallowed.”

“Man, she just has a few weeks to graduate and just to see that she is gone is difficult,” he said, noticing that she was so excited and had planned her dress with her mother.

Lyons hoped to work in cosmetology and as a DJ.

“She was calm, but at the same time she was ambitious,” said Parker to NBC 5. “Just to see how she interacted with it and some of my friends who are DJs is difficult. I can't believe it.”
