An investigation is underway after a boy died in a firing wound in Washington Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey.

On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, around 2:30 p.m., the police in Washington Township reacted to a house in the 400 block of the Westminster Boulevard to report a child with a gunshot wound. When the police arrived, they found a 10-year-old boy who had been shot in the head. The boy was later declared dead.

The police did not reveal the boy's identity out of respect for his family, but said that he was a student at the Birches Elementary School in Turnerville, New Jersey. The public school district of Washington Township offers advisory and support services for pupils, employees and families.
