NFL Insider offers clarity about the situation of Derek Carr's injury situation

Months after the end of the 2024 NFL season, it was reported that the quarterback from New Orleans Saints, Derek Carr, had a shoulder injury that could endanger its availability in 2025.

The time of reports on Carr's injury led to the NFL insiders Dianna Russsini considered the injury as a “mercury” for Carr, so that he was not behind a rookie quarterback.

Since then, Carr has contested Russian and said that he actually had an injured shoulder. “I hate that I have to say that, but I have to say that. Yes, I have a shoulder injury, even though ESPN says and what a lady may think in a podcast,” said Carr. “I have an MRI report to prove it. The team knows about it, we were in constant communication. It is nothing wrong, we find out. We'll keep going, is that okay?”

On Tuesday, the NFL network reporter Jane Slater offered a certain clarity about Carr's injury. According to Slater, Carr believes the shoulder against the Giants in week 14 when he also injured his wrist. Slater found that the time of the injury report is due to the fact that Carr only noticed in the spring. He did not return after week 14 in 2024 because of the wrist injury and did not “make sense” until he started for the offseason program when he noticed the injury.

Slater added that it didn't look as if Carr wanted to get an operation on his shoulder, but did not make a decision. She says that a decision will come “sooner than later”.

It remains unclear whether or when Carr can play for New Orleans. The saints selected Quarterback Tyler Shough in the second round this year and provided another option if Carr cannot go.
