Although security was its main concern, the leak cost it thousands of dollars.

The restaurant spent a few days before Cinco de Mayo prepared enough meat and ingredients to produce their dishes, most of which were not eaten due to the leak.

((Sot)) Diana Bastida is a co-manager with her brother Edwin in La Libertad. She explained that the holiday is every year that they see the greatest traffic.

“Cinco de Mayo, I noticed in the two years in which we were open, noticed that it constantly tripled or doubled what we did,” said Diana.

The restaurant closed not only for customers, the entire facility had to go and sacrifice valuable working hours for its employees.

Diana explained that the restaurant on Cinco de Mayo usually deserves between five and six thousand dollars, which they have dependent on increasing tariff prices for imported products – avocados.

Before the recent increase in tariffs, Edwin said that they paid around 700 US dollars for products. A number that has only increased since then.

Despite the loss on Monday, they still hope to celebrate the holiday- the parts of dishes inspired by their mother's kitchen in Mexico, which most make up from the menu.

“After I opened the restaurant, I also showed what kind of wonderful community we have – because we meet these wonderful people every time they go through these doors,” said Diana.

Edwin explained that the goal of her restaurant was to continue to share Mexican culture with the area of Hanover: “It was always a big deal for us in which we try to give our customers the feeling that they are a family. They come to our restaurant to eat with us and we try to convey this house feeling.”
