Idaho State Police and NTSB examine a fatal crash west of Yellowstone

The Idaho State Police (ISP) examines a fatal crash that took place on the US Highway 20 near Henry's Lake west of Yellowstone on May 1st.

The collision included a Mercedes van with 14 inmates, including a driver licensed in California, 12 Chinese nationals and an Italian national. The group drove on a trip by Cour Holiday LLC, a large international travel service provider, to the Yellowstone National Park on the way.

In this case, the investigators have found that a Dodge Ram pickup crossed the center line and hit the passenger car in the east. This finding is documented in the official IVCR (IVCR) by Idaho Vehicle fall (IVCR). The investigators are still not sure why the pick -up has exceeded the center line. The crash reconstruction continues and ISP -Trooper are working to determine all the factors associated with the crash.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) also carries out an independent examination. The NTSB staff visited the scene and checked evidence with the agency that carries out its own investigation.

“We are expanding the families and relatives of those who are lost in this tragedy,” ISP SGT SGT said Blake Higley. “We are incredibly grateful to the passers -by who continued to help and the first aiders whose quick actions and teamwork supported those in a critical need. This was a challenging and emotional scene for everyone involved.”

The examination remains active and updates are provided when information is checked and suitable for approval.
