Proof of demons, angels and near -death experiences? Lee Strobel

Lee Strobel speaks on September 24, 2023 at the Biblical Worldview Conference in the Prestonwood Church in Plano, Texas. | Prestonwood Baptist Church

The renowned Christian author Lee Strobel said the interest of the Americans in an “Reich beyond what we can see and touch” made him write his latest book – exploring the supernatural.

Strobel, which was recently published Supernatural see: angels, demons, mystical dreams, encounters with near deaths and other secrets of the invisible world. The data that the majority of Americans believe in these biblical topics led him to go deeper.

“It told me that this is a bridge where we can connect to people who may be far from God and still have an interest in the supernatural,” he and the actress Jen Lilley said on our new “Into the Supernatural” podcast. “It can be an input for you to really learn what the Bible teaches about the world beyond our physical area.”

Strobel continued: “As an evangelist, it was always my wish.”

But the author, who described it as a “adventure” to have the chance to immerse yourself in these topics in recent years, said some Christians hesitate to hug every feeling.

Listen to Strobel: Explain:

In this sense, Strobel made sure to choose cases with a lot of confirmation to bring these problems to light. Near death experiences are only an arena in which he was fascinated to see mighty evidence that something supernatural had unfolded.

“You see documented cases of near -death experiences in which people see or hear things that would have been impossible for them not to have authentic experience outside the body after their clinical death,” said Strobel. “It only increases what the script tells about the supernatural kingdom, and I think it gives us more courage.”

Strobel told such a story about a woman who was clinically dead in a hospital and claimed to have separated her mind from her body.

She said she had traveled to the ceiling during the experience and could see how her body was revived.

“When it was ultimately revived, she said: 'Oh, by the way, on the ceiling fan here in the emergency room, in the upper part of the blade … is a red sticker,” he said. “And she couldn't have seen it. Nobody could see it from the room because it was in the upper part of the ceiling. So they got a ladder and gave up, and safe enough, there is the red sticker that she could only have seen from her perspective of her mind near the blanket of emergency room.”

Strobel met other examples like this, which he included in the book.

Problems like this are increasingly observed in culture, since faith seems to be a revival. And Strobel said that he realized something else – that “for the first time in history” people do scientific studies “in order to prove their existence.

“In other words, they test them scientifically and with documentation in a way that I have not done so much in the past,” said Strobel. “And we see cases of documented miracles who really wake up people around the fact that this is not a wishful thinking, it is not … The placebo effect, it is not a fraud, it is not lazing. There are documented cases.”

He also cited the case of a medical healing that surrounded a blind woman, whose husband prayed for her for a night and borrowed the Lord to heal her vision.

“He says: 'Lord, I know that you can heal blindness. I know that you can do it. And Lord, I pray, you do it tonight. I'm praying, you are doing it now,” said Strobel. “And she opened her eyes for perfect eyesight and that has been okay for 47 years.”

Medically documented stories like this have convinced Strobel, “something is going on” – something he believes that it is really miraculous.

“And I think that opens the eyes of the people to the fact that these are not just stories that they hear at Sunday school or whatever,” he said. “But they dig into many of these stories and find substance, and they find people with eyewitnesses who have no motif to deceive. They have medical documents and so on.”
