Man shot, killed by the police in Tucsons Tohono Chul Ident

The incident began around 7 p.m., 28 April 28th, when the police from Oro Valley reacted to reported shots near the private 49 hectare plot in 7366 North Paseo del Norte, west of the North Oracle Road near West Ina Road.

The first officer at the crime scene, which was parked in front of a closed gate, then began to search the property.

Several shots were released against the officer when he approached a pickup that had destroyed the windows near the Garden Bistro of the park, the publication on Tuesday from the regional critical Incident team from Pima said.

Additional ORO Valley officers had arrived when a shooter left the building and ignored repeated commands to drop his weapon. The shooter was shot several times after he “brought his hands together as an immediate threat in a way,” the release said.

The civil servants' life -saving efforts began after the shooting scene was considered safe.

The 31-year-old Alfred Lopez-Minor, who most recently worked at Tohono Chul in December 2024, died at the scene. A semi -automatic pistol was recovered near his body, it says in the release.

The Oro Valley officers involved in the shootout were identified as: Manny Guerrero, a 24.5-year-old veteran; Kristofer Brandstrom, a 6-year-old veteran; and Matthew Farmer, a 2.5-year-old veteran.

None of the officers were wounded.

The PRCIT team derives the criminal investigation and will present its results from the Pima district law firm, which is standard procedure.

The Oro Valley police department will carry out a simultaneous examination to ensure that the departmental procedures have been met, according to the press release.
