Member of the beloved family Grizzly Bear killed and killed in the Grand Teton National Park of Wyoming

Elch, Wyo. – A 5-year-old bear, the member of a well-known and beloved grizzly family in the Grand Teton National Park, died, after it was approached by a vehicle, the same fate that his mother fell at the end of last year, said Wildlife officials on Tuesday.

Park Rangers found the body of the male bear, known as Grizzly No. 1058, about 125 yards (114 meters) from Highway 26 near the Buffalo Fork River on Tuesday. The bear was one of four boys who had appeared in May 2020 with their mother Grizzly No. 399 and was often referred to as the most famous grizzly bear in the world.

Grizzly No. 399, who was loved for decades by countless tourists, biologists and professional wildlife photographers, was hit and killed in October by a vehicle on a motorway south of Jackson, Wyoming. Parking officers used wildlife tags to confirm the relationship between the two bears.

Grizzly No. 1058 had been seen occasionally in the park since he was lowered in 2022, but no sightings were reported by him this spring. After being hit by the vehicle, he made his way to a piece of pasture where he died.

Parking officers said on Tuesday that he may be dead for a few days before his body was found.

At the age of 28, No. 399 was the oldest known reproductive female grizzly in the Yellowstone ecosystem. Every spring, wildlife enthusiasts were looking forward to their creation from their cave to see how many boys born her in winter – and then quickly divided the news online. The bear had 18 known boys in eight throws over the years, including the throw of four in 2020.

The grizzly was named after the identity day, which was connected by researchers on their ears, and was often seen near streets in Grand Teton, which drew crowds and creates traffic jams.

The driver, who beat and killed No. 399, did not accelerate, and the bear's death was ruled as an accident. Parking officers have not published any additional details about the crash, in which No. 1058 was killed.
