Akron's crime statistics for the first quarter are in. The following shows.

Akron, Ohio – the crime statistics for the first quarter are located in Akron, and the police department recorded a decline in comparing the figures with the same period in 2024.

“We have decreased in pretty much every large statistical category, every crime category, if you like,” said Lt. Michael Murphy from the Akron Police Department.

According to a Facebook post, Akron PD received more than 30,000 requirements for service and repeated almost 150 firearms.

The department even reported 28% about a decline in car theft, a decrease and entry company by 7% and a slump in 1% for real estate crimes.

In the case of violent crimes, the murders have dropped by 50%, with almost 40% decline in robbery and crime.

In the meantime, the use of the department fell by 27%.

The only category to see a significant increase was rape – by 46%.

I asked Murphy what his reaction to people would be who feel that they would not see a decline in crime.

Murphy replied and said: “I can understand why people can say that, but if you look at it from the macro level, it is difficult to say that when you don't see a decline when you look outside and keep happening.”

Overall, however, Murphy said that the crime has dropped in Akron in the first quarter and believes that the weather and its progress in community binding and initiatives helped reduce crime.

“By leading Chief Harding, we introduced the commitment of the community into all of our units,” said Murphy.

Nevertheless, Pastor Juanita Watson from Faith Outreach Ministries said: The Faith Factory, she would like to see more awareness and community partnership in order to continue to build trust.

“I would like to see support in our communities as well as support and opportunity to do the things we like to do. I would like to see your presence not only on the police, but also on the community side,” said Watson.

Until then, Watson encourages the community to continue to pour himself together and make smart decisions because the summer comes closer.

“I don't want us to believe that we don't have to do our Due Diligence and protect our community,” said Watson.

“What we would like to see when we entered the second quarter that we decrease in a decline in numbers in contrast to what we had last year,” said Murphy.

When summer is approaching, Murphy said that the police department will be ready for everything that is in stock.
