ŠKODA Auto celebrates 130 years with Limited Edition Watch

Mladá Boleslav, May 7, 2025 -ŠKODA Auto celebrates its 130th anniversary with a limited series of 130 Laurin & Clement wristwatches created by the Czech watchmaker Prokop & Brož. These exclusive watches are inspired by the rare and historically significant Laurin & Klement BSC model, a sports car from 1908, which is the highlight of early automotive technology. The wristwatch edition marks a tribute to the watchmaker and automotive craftsmanship and will be available in selected European markets in September of this year.

A joint celebration of craftsmanship and the technical tradition
This limited series was founded on the 130th anniversary of the foundation of the company Laurin & Klement, based in Mladá Boleslav, the predecessor of today's ŠKODA Auto. The 1908 Laurin & Klement BSC, an emblem of the automotive composition and excellence of the early 20th century, serves as a perfect inspiration for this commemorative width, purely mechanical clock.

Inspired by the sporting version of the 1908 Laurin & Klements BSC
The designers of Prokop & Brož were inspired by one of the most valuable exhibits in the ŠKODA Museum in Mladá Boleslav, the Laurin & Klement BSC from 1908. This car represents an early example of the excellence and innovation of the automobile, which corresponds to an innovation with inline motor layout and various body types that meet the needs of customers in time. The anniversary output guard reflects the uniqueness of the car in different ways: The position of the second hand outside of 12 noon was adopted from the dashboard clock of this model. Other parts that were inspired in the dashboard in pocket watches are the main hands. Their shape, material and technology to separate them in dark blue color correspond to the traditional watch craft. The clock dial is produced with the unique Brosmalt technology developed by Prokop & Brož. The pigmentation of the infiltration corresponds to the highly polished pearl color used on the body of the historical car. Each dial is a handmade unique piece that carries the number of watch in the series. The dial graphic was designed in such a way that it is so loyal to the 19th century aesthetics, but also address lovers and collectors of classic watches that do not lose their value and remain attractive for decades.

The crown is with the Laurin & Klement emblem. The same thing that adorns the cooler of the vintage car that inspired this exclusive watch series. The limited edition is offered in two versions: the first 30 pieces are reserved for the prestige version, in which the housing and its components consist of 18,000 gold, while the basic version of 100 parts contains these components made of stainless steel. The color of the strap was selected to meet the shadow of the leather straps with which the canvas of the BSC car was stretched.

Laurin & Klement BSC: The only surviving example is a pearl of the ŠKODA museum
The BSC sports car from Laurin & Klement, which has been part of the ŠKODA Museum collection in Mladá Boleslav since 2016, was subjected to a complete renovation that took two years, and the team of experts was based on the surviving original drawings and other unique sources. All important mechanical components of this fully operational unique car are original, including the motor with the authentic serial number, with which the sports car in 1908 left the production hall in Mladá Boleslav.

The BS Model Series has an important place in the history of the Mladá Boleslav automobile manufacturer. Compared to the first cars of the brand, the A, B and B2 types, it differs in the inline motor layout and many body types to meet customers' needs at this time.
