Warriors shocked Timberwolves in game 1 – now they are waiting for Stephen Curry and what comes next

Minneapolis – Stephen Curry was sitting on a chair with clothing that looked like he was ready to take over 18 holes on the golf course instead of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Or more precisely strict rehab.

He carefully went out of the changing room of the visitors to the night in Minneapolis, whereby his left armpit skin affects the cause of the Golden State Warriors and frankly the NBA.

In the Warriors changing room, the talks were not a team that may have lost its leader over a longer period of time.

They could not see whether the fear that their season would depend heavily on the results of an MRI test on Wednesday morning, and they could not say how exhausted them pursued a physical and emotional test in the first round.

The energy inside was not too unlike what they showed in 48 minutes of the focus, since they shocked the Timberwolves in game 1 of the semi-finals of the Western Conference with a 99-88 victory in the Target Center.

Curry limp after a floater at 8:46 a.m. in the second quarter, the final of his 13 points – it was a step that he had taken so often and would have taken his start that evening so much more.

Now the Warriors call him “day by day” and are waiting for the results of the MRI – and the schedule does not give the Warriors breaks because the games are played every other day until a four -day break exists between games 5 and 6 if the series takes so long.

It is another example of the unpredictability of these playoffs, especially for the older statesmen. Lebron James, who was put down by Donte Divincenzo in the dwindling minutes of the Lakers season and suffered an MCL resource. Damian Lillard was sitting on the floor of the Fiserv Forum with an ironic, almost joker-like smile in the immediate vicinity to tear his ACL.

And now it may be curry that increases the list and the long -term prospects of the Warriors poses real doubts for a surprise in this series.

“He is obviously depressed,” said Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who said he had spoken to Curry at halftime and Curry was already treating a clear sign that his night was over. “Obviously we are all concerned about Steph, but it is part of the game. Boys are injured and they go on. Our boys did a great job to continue.”

It only took 48 hours after her determined game 7 in Houston, which Curry fell when Amen Thompson seemed to have put down with a cramp, and gave the greatest shooter more than enough space for nailing another heartbreaking, cross -soul triple.

Now the cruelty or at least the possibility of its curry has turned his head. Even when he grabbed his back of his leg, he could go up and down for a defensive stop and an offensive game.

This is a better sign than most devastating thigh injuries. There is a permanent picture of Magic Johnson, the charter member in the Pantheon of Great Point Guards, which grabs his knee tendon in Game 2 of the NBA Finals from 1989 in Detroit. He could hardly move, but he knew immediately that the heavy one wanted to leave the ground immediately, as the three-goal chances of the Lakers had fallen at that moment.

For Curry, he put Draymond Green an assist for a 3 pointer and immediately started driving towards the changing room. But at the moment there was no immediate resignation.

He said to green: “I will be back”, when Green noticed that Curry's gait was out of place.

Maybe that's a good sign.

The best sign that can be assumed is that the Warriors Jimmy Butler are busy. His regular season edition does not look drastically different from the man he has replaced, Andrew Wiggins, but there is a difference in how he plays this time of year.

He defended all of Rudy Gobert over Julius Randle against Anthony Edwards and calmed the offensive when Buddy woke up at the right time. Hield was a +16 in the first half, but only had two points (0-7 FG) to his name and then exploded in third place for 16 when the Timberwolves started shaking off their lethargy.

“Robin (Butler) was in Batman … Alfred (HILD) became in Robin and they just filled out,” said Green. “It was nice to see.”

Butler and Hield have this playful brotherly energy, in which they look for each other to keep things light. Butler playfully blamed Hield because he didn't have the right play shorts because Hield had to leave the game and change in the changing room.

But it keeps things in serious, tense moments, especially for a team that only has as many playoff experience in the squad.

“I saw how butters (HIELD) be aggressive and made some timely recordings and got stops in a large way,” said Butler. “I think we all want 30 (curry) back.

Every time HILD can defend such as Anthony Edwards and actually exceeds him (24 to 23 for Edwards), the Warriors will take this trade every time. Butler helped control the pace and get important possessions, with seven of his eleven rebounds came to the offensive and scored 20 points with eight templates.

Butler has fitted himself into the culture of the warriors since his arrival and shifted to the leadership of Curry and Green. But the Warriors are in a place like the often underneath Miami Heat during these playoff runs that Butler had to be the focus.

Regardless of the length of Curry's injury, Butler has to do more and he knows.

“I'm not a volume shooter. I never have it, it will probably never be, but I'll play the right way,” said Butler. “(If) my boys are open, I will survive and they will shoot it. If you don't shoot it, you probably scream them because you didn't shot the ball, and I just have to be efficient.

“I trained for it.”

In these heat, Butler ran an average of 24.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.9 steals at 27 percent. For the context, its use has been 21 years since they came to the warriors.

“We are two of the three leaders of this team,” said Green to Yahoo Sports. “Our guy, we have to rise in this category and find out, help boys to be able to be successful. We have to do it.”

Green admits that the Timberwolves will probably be safer despite the bubble 1, since Curry's uncertain status. But he will get Butler to do more.

“He knows and we will make sure he knows,” said Green.

Green has not scored three triple in a playoff game in a playoff game in a playoff game since the semi-finals in a playoff game (he beat five in game 2 of this series), but alive early when the Warriors needed the distance and shot to shoot.

And maybe it was only for one night in which the Timberwolves did everything to help the Warriors to take care of the trend of the NBA's stradical teams throughout the second round and 19 to miss their first 20 3-point attempts.

It was as if they were trying to pass the Boston Celtics in poor shooting and decision -making and thus play directly into the hands of the warriors. Edwards, the next all-Everything of the NBA, took 28 minutes to achieve his first bucket, and his charges for 23 points and 14 rebounds came too late when the Timberwolves could never come before the game.

They were also unable to use their sizes according to their flavors when the warriors came to every loose ball.

Who knows whether it is replicated for game 2 or the rest of the series, but the waiting game begins.

Will Curry be nearby at home for game 3? Or game 4? Or maybe even game 5, again in this building, which could be a potential rotary for both, as crazy as these playoffs were.

But for the night the warriors ruled without their king.

The warriors didn't even cry for a night, but they hope that joy will come in the morning.
