Warrior's star is daily, MRI will get

play

Steph Curry, All-Star Guard of Golden State, is daily and will undergo an MRI on Wednesday, said Warriors coach Steve Kerr.

Curry left the first game on Tuesday evening against the Minnesota Timberwolves and went into the changing room with 8:19 a.m. in the second quarter. The Warriors later announced that Curry would not return. The Warriors stole the opener, 99-88.

“I spoke to him at halftime,” said Kerr after the game. “He is obviously crushed, but the boys lifted him and played a great game. Obviously we are all concerned about Steph, but it is part of the game. Guys are injured, you continue.

“Our boys did a great job and achieved a great victory 48 hours after a street victory in game 7. It is an amazing group of boys. These boys – they come together, they are together. We were the best defense in the league since the Jimmy trade, and that is currently overwater.”

Game 2 is Thursday (8:30 p.m. ET, TNT) in Minneapolis.

Curry packed several times in his left thigh area in the second quarter, and after Draymond Green had made a 3 pointer and Minnesota Timeout called Timeout, Curry left the game with the Warriors with 30 to 20. The Warriors' victory gave RoadTeams a 5-0 start in the second round, an NBA record.

Curry had 13 points in 5-on-9 recordings, including 3-on-6 for 3-herself. After his last shot, he turned Kerr on to get him out, and Brandin Podziemski checked in when Curry went into the changing room.

The eleven-time all-star had another outstanding season (24.5 points, 6.0 assists, 4.6 rebounds per game and 39.7% 3-point shooting). His ability to play at the age of 37 like this is a main reason why the Warriors Jimmy Butler acquired Miami in a Miami trade closing business in February. Since the acquisition of Butler, the Warriors have been one of the best teams in the league.

The Warriors in the seventh seed defeated the second seeds Houston Rockets in seven games in the first round, and Curry scored an average of 24.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.1 steals and shot 47.1% from the field and 39.2% against 3s against Houston.
