A woman has not guilty of causing death by careless driving from the former city council and Ireland -Rugby player David Tweed.

The 61-year-old died in October 2021, when his motorcycle was involved in a collision with a car in the WhitePark Road area in Ballycastle, County Antrim.

Anne Broughton, 71, from the WhitePark Road, Ballycastle, denies a single indictment that he caused death by careless driving.

Ms. Broughton only spoke to confirm her identity and enter into a non -guilty plea during the hearing at the Antrim Crown Court.

Some members of the Mr. Tweed family were in the courtroom.

A defense lawyer informed the court that he had ordered an engineering report into the crash.

Mr. Tweed was the city council of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), but left the party in 2007 because of its decision to share power with meaning.

He later joined the traditional trade union voice (TUV).

In 2012, he was convicted of sexual abuse suspicions for children, which in 2016 was lifted due to the way the jury was in his first legal proceedings after serving a prison sentence for four years.

The lawyers of Mr. Tweed put up with the conviction based on defects, how bad the evidence was provided in front of the jury.

According to his conviction, it was excluded from the orange order and suspended it and then replaced by the TUV.

Ms. Broughton was released for continuous deposit.

A negotiation date was set at the Antrim Crown Court for December 8th.
