Oulton Park: “Not

Deaths are rare in the motorcycle race, but unfortunately not unknown.

The British Superbikes driver Chrissy Rouse died after an accident in Donington Park in 2022.

Superbikes can reach speeds of up to 200 km / h and the bicycles used in Supersport are regularly over 100 km / h.

The former driver and MLAV racing owner Michael Laverty shared BBC Sport that the drivers probably reached speeds of “about 90 to 100 km / h” when they crashed against the opening corner of Oulton Park in the first round.

McLaren-Wood, who drives from Uggly & Co Kawasaki for Josh Davis Motorsport, expects the incident to influence some of the drivers, but insisted that they all enter sport who knows the risks.

“I think there will be a few people,” said McLaren-Wood.

“Most of us know that it is the sport we like to do, and we will fight again and avoid that something like this happens again.”

Motorsport Vision Racing (MSV), which are responsible for the cycle in the Oulton Park, and the Motorrad Racing Control Board (MCRCB) said on Monday that they examined “the complete circumstances of the incident in connection with the Coroner and Cheshire Constabulary”.

“I think there are always opportunities to improve security in elite,” said McLaren-Wood when he was asked what the sport could learn.

“Maybe there were too many drivers out there, I don't really know. I'm not a security expert, but I think it was mainly a tragedy.”

The Oulton Park event was the beginning of the British Superbikes season 2025, with another seven rounds throughout the UK to take place in front of three 'showdown events.

The Supersport Championship is a support class for the British Superbike series of the British Superbike.

The next event of the British Supersport Championship season will take place on May 16 to 18 in Donington Park.
