Chicago Cubs Score and Recap (5/6/25): Giants 14, Cubs 5 f/11

The Cubs and Giants fought against Wrigley Field on Tuesday evening after the home team had won a one -sided victory on Monday evening. Chicago organized a dramatic 9th Inning rally to connect the game, but the Giants had a big rally from their own to emerge in extras as the winner.

Starter Colin Rea was not as sharp as in his previous excursions and Giants' Hitter used it. Heliot Ramos had an RBI single and Patrick Bailey added a victim fly in the 2nd Inning to give the road team a 2-0 lead.

Jung Hoo Lee met a Homer of two Runs from Rea in the 3rd Inning to double San Francisco's lead to 4-0. The Cubs finally broke through on the veteran Justin Belander in the bottom of the frame when Dansby Swanson sinked and was plated by one Homerun by Miguel Amaya to cut the deficit in half.

In fourth, Brett defined a fairly unpleasant security squeeze in fourth to bring another giant home and make 5: 2. Jon Berti recorded an RBI-Infield single at the bottom of the 5th to bring the North Siders 5: 3 within two.

Ryan Walker came to the save at the bottom of the 9th and went two to bring the starting start in the form of Justin Turner onto the plate. Turner met to the right to reduce the lead to 5-4, and Walker was pulled with runners on the first and third and two outs.

Lefty Erik Miller entered Kyle Tucker, and the outfield of the Cubs hit the first place, which he saw again in the middle to play an RBI single. Chicago could not bring any further run into the game, so the game went to extras.

The Giants distributed the game in the 11th Inning against Ryan Pressly and achieved nine runs to end it. ((Box score)))

Key moment

The Cubs took third place in the 10th inning, but a Pete-Crow Armstrong Strikeout and a lineout from Swanson were the winning run.

Why the Cubs lost

They just couldn't get this last goal to complete the comeback and were neglected in extras.

Statistics that are important

  • Rea had to have a shaky start, but it's not as if it were terrible: 5 IP, 5 R, 4 ER 8 H, 4 K, 2 BB.
  • Swanson reached the base three times on Monday with two singles and a walk.
  • Tucker has also campaigned three times and continues to get big hits.

Conclusion

A brave comeback from the Cubs really went sideways in the 11th inning. It is good that you didn't even end against one of the best bullpens in baseball. Tucker also shows what an important piece he is for the squad, not only this year, but also in the future.

On deck

The rubber game of the series is Wednesday afternoon at 1:20 p.m. CT. Ben Brown is on the hill against Robbie Ray in a competition that is broadcast on the marquee with radio reporting on 670.
