Hello Clermont Champions! April/May 2025

It was a busy month with many programs, activities and events. Together with Interim City Manager Rick van Wagner and council members Petersen and Myers at the end of March in Tallahassee, I took part in Legislative Days. We met directly with our representatives and shared our concerns about current questions and how the proposed laws could affect the United States.

We had a great turnout for the Earth Day on April 19 at Lake Hiawatha Preserve. More than 200 people took part in the activities that started at 7:30 a.m. and collected more than £ 300 in and around the Minneola lake. Delicious hamburgers and hot dogs, who were hot and served by public service departments, fueled all of this work.

I think it is important to participate in Memorial Day events, as this is the day that is the honor and memory of those who have lost their lives that fought for our rights. For the second year we have the privilege of organizing the traveling Vietnam War -Memorial Wall. A replica of the full monument in Washington will accompany the Patriot Guard Riders 'Patriot Guard Riders' monument to the Waterfront Park at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 24th. A souvenir program with special speakers, music and activities begins on May 11th, May 26th.

Although it does not appear possible, the last day of this school year is May 29th. Congratulations to all of our graduates and good luck in the next step in your trip.

It is never too early for safety memories, and at the end of the school year we think of staying slower, staying attentive and paying attention to bicycles for pedestrians and children.

Speaking of summer, the Splash Park has a free entry and is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to May 26th when it opened every day until August 10th. Be sure that you mark your calendar for the annual Caribbean Jerk Festival on June 7 and Junetenth on June 21 in the Waterfront Park.

As a memory, our advice, our code enforcement and the planning and zoning sessions are streamed and archived live with YouTube. Here is the link: www.youtube.com/@cityofclermont. We hope that this will make the city meetings more accessible to our community.

If you have any questions or concerns about Clermont, I encourage you to inform me because I have instructed you to exchange problems and concerns from the community. You can drop by in the town hall (Monday or Wednesday morning) or come by for my monthly lunch (first Tuesday in various restaurants) and let me hear me.

I am honored and grateful to act as your mayor and I generate your continued support. As always, you can reach me at tmurry@clermontfl.org.

See you next time
Mayor Tim Murry
