Woman dies of accident with 18-wheels

Mincken, La. (KSLA) – A woman's life was claimed when her vehicle collided with an 18 wheels.

On May 6th, around 7.50 p.m., Louisiana State Police (LSP) reacted to an accident with two vehicles on the US Highway 79, north of the Louisiana Highway 518 in Webster Parish.

During the examination, the soldiers found that a Nissa Versa, driven by Cecilia Marston (55) from Homer, LA, drove north on the US Highway 79. At the same time, a Freightliner Cascadia 2015 drove south on the US highway 79.

For unknown reasons, the Nissan crossed the center line and collided with the Freightliner.

Marston, who wore a seat belt, was seriously injured and taken to a local hospital where she was declared dead. The driver of the 18-wheels was not injured.

The impairment is not suspected, but toxicological samples were taken for analysis.

The crash is examined.

“Soldiers often experience the tragic consequences of avoidable crashes. It is essential to never operate a vehicle while it is affected, tired or distracted, and always obey the published speed limit. Although not all accidents can survive, taking these simple precautions can mean the difference between life and death,” says a statement from LS.
