Woman killed after alligator attack near the Lake Kissimmee in Central Florida

An alligator attacked a woman on a lake in central florida on Tuesday afternoon and killed her.

The attack occurred near the mouth of the Tiger Creek in the Lake Kissimmee, south of Orlando, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in a press release.

A woman was canoeing when she pushed an alligator and went into the water, the wild officials said. The woman was later recovered from the water and declared dead.

The deputies and marine units of the Sheriff from Polk County helped in the search. The woman was with another person at the time of the attack, said the Sheriff officials.

The investigators have not published any details about the attack or the alligator. A contractual harassment alligator was sent to the region.

In Florida, serious injuries from alligators are rare, officials said.

FWC manages a nationwide disturbing alligator program to remove alligators that are assumed that they are a threat to humans, pets or property.
