Detectives publish a new video of the armed robbery of the 73-year-old man in South Charlotte

Charlotte, NC (WBTV) detectives from the police department of Charlotte-Mecklenburg have published more surveillance material, which shows that a 73-year-old man with a weapon was robbed of an ATM in South Charlotte.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 16 at the intersection of the East Woodlawn Road and the Old Pineville Road in South Charlotte.

The man who was robbed, Eddie Patton Jr., recently spoke in an interview about the crime with WBTV.

“I went back to the car and sat in the car and the guy went behind me and had this weapon,” said Patton.

The surveillance material published by the police this week shows the incident how it happens.

“It suddenly frightened me. You know someone walks behind you and put a weapon on you, what will you do? I will give him the money,” noticed Patton.

Detective Jacqueline Clyburn from the crime stops of Charlotte-Mecklenburg said, detective believes that the man who robbed the patton from the area from scooter. The investigators hope that someone will recognize the man in the surveillance pictures and call the police.

CMPD detectives also continue their work to identify a person who tried to rob a supermarket in East Charlotte. According to the police, the incident occurred on Easter Sunday in the 7-eleven blv in East Charlotte.

“(It was) extremely dangerous. It is unpredictable. It only takes a wrong movement and your life has been changed forever,” said Clyburn.

She said that nothing was stolen during the attempted robbery, but detectives want to identify this person and take them into custody.

Finally, Clyburn said that the police also want to identify a man who recently used a stolen credit card in a supermarket in Charlotte. She said he tried several times to use the card. The investigators have published monitoring images of the person who used the stolen card.
