Njeda highlights small BIZ programs during the small company week

To celebrate the National Small Business Week, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) highlights its various programs for grants, loans and technical support that aimed at supporting small companies across the state. Since the start of the Main Street Recovery program in 2021, NJEDA has granted almost 8,000 small companies across the state of more than $ 185 million in grants, loans and technical support. More than 2,000 permits as part of the program were given to women, minority, veterans, LGBTQ and/or small companies in possession of disabilities.

The Main Street Recovery program, a comprehensive series of programs, was originally supported for small companies that have been affected by pandemic since the growth and expansion of small companies supported. Including the pandemic simplification of 700 million US dollars, which the NJEDA made available before the start of the Main Street Recovery program, the authority distributed a total of almost 1 billion US dollar to strengthen small companies across New Jersey.

“From North Jersey to South Jersey and everywhere in between, small companies are fueling the local economy and revitalizes important commercial corridors,” said Tim Sullivan, Chief Executive Officer from Njeda. “Under the leadership of governor Murphy, New Jersey has invested millions of dollars to ensure that small business owners have the resources and tools to expand their business and continue to operate their communities. With our robust loan and subsidy programs, the NJEDA helps to expand the opportunities and increase the vitality along the main streets in New Jersey.”

The following programs are part of the Main Street Recovery Suite:

  • Small Business Lease Grant: Supports the growth and success of small companies and non -profit organizations by offering grant financing to cover part of the leasing payments for companies and non -profit organizations that rent new or additional space.
  • Improvement of small businesses: offers reimbursement for costs associated with the improvement of the building or buying new furniture, fittings and equipment.
  • Main Street Lenders Grant: Scholarship for legitimate micro business lovers with which lenders can create new Micro Business Loan Products or add existing products for micro business loans. The lenders can also qualify for additional grant financing in order to provide micro -companies technical support in order to better prepare these companies for the qualification of credit products.
  • Main Street Acquisition Support Grant: offers a grant of up to $ 50,000 in order to reimburse a legitimate small business in New Jersey for the closure costs in connection with commercial property in New Jersey for which the company was bought.
  • Small Business E-Commerce Support Program: offers free e-commerce and digital marketing consulting services for small businesses in New Jersey in a restaurant, retail and personal care industry that operate from a commercial location. The NJEDA has teamed up with consultants to support justified small companies in e-commerce services.
  • Main Street Micro Business Loan: Promotion of up to $ 50,000 for justified micro companies in New Jersey with 10 or less full-time employees and no more than $ 1.5 million in annual income.

The NJEDA organizes several resource fairs throughout the National Small Business Week to highlight the programs offered by the authority. A personal trade fair “Show Me The Resources” will take place on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. at the College of New Jersey. A virtual trade fair “Show Me The Resources” is hosted on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
