Will County Hass Crime: Joseph Czuba asks the judge to rethink the punishment in Uncorp. Plainfield records murder of Wadeee Alfayoumi

Joliet, Ill. (WLS) – A Plainfield man who was convicted of killing a 6-year-old boy asks the judge to change his punishment.

Joseph Czuba, 73, was sentenced to 53 years in prison last week.

He killed Wadeee Alfayoumi and badly injured the child's mother in the room they rented from him in October 2023.

A County Richter heard his case on Wednesday morning.

There is still no word about the judge's decision.

A jury condemned him in February for the first degree murder, tried murder and hate crimes.

The police say that Czuba stabbed Alfayoumi more than 24 times.

The prosecutors said that Czuba described the boy's mother as a “devil Muslim” while he stabbed her.

The family has now submitted illegal deaths against Czuba.

This is a tragedy that attracted the country's attention in 2023 and even led the former President Joe Biden to talk about it.

Czuba will probably spend the rest of his life in prison.
