HBCU Football Program Records Recorate Perfect APR Score

With the kind permission of the NCCU light athletics

Durham, NC -The HBCU soccer team of the North Carolina Central University (NCCU) is a “national champion” when it comes to the APR report from 2023-24 (APR) that the NCAA released on Tuesday.

The Eagles recorded their best APR points of all times of all times-a perfect 1,000, the highest academic success of the NCAA.

The APR is a measure used by the NCAA to pursue the academic progress of student athletes in every team of Division I by a team-based metric in which variables such as justification and storage are emphasized.

“This is a monumental performance that should invite ongoing discussions about what is possible if student athletes, support staff, trainers and the university community are brought into harmony with the common direction and the commitment,” said Kwadjo Steele, the NCCU Associate Athletics Director for Student Athlete support.

The North Carolina Central University is the only HBCU soccer team that achieves an APR point number of 1,000 one-year and one of the few soccer programs of Division I (FBS or FCS) to achieve a perfect score this year. The performance further proves that the Eagles refuse to impair academic excellence and at the same time pursue sports championships.

“I am incredibly proud of the achievement of our football team to achieve a perfect APR value of over 1,000,” said head coach Trei Oliver. “This is more than just a number for us. It is the academic equivalent of the profit of a national championship. It speaks volumes about the kind of young men we recruit, the deliberate culture that we have built up, and the entire commitment to our coaching and our academic staff.”

Academic perfection

During the academic year 2023-24, the HBCU, NC based in Durham, NC, achieved one semester and a cumulative GPA over 3.0 for both autumn and spring semester. The team completed 25 students.

“Although it deserves many who thank you, we first have to recognize our student athletes for their academic success,” said Steele. “We also thank our extraordinary support team Lucy Mason, Jenna Watts and the deputy football coach Tony Spencer for the structure and accountability. Your work behind the scenes has made a huge difference. Trainer Oliver also earns a high praise for the recording of a structure that is on the same.

The APR report contains a one-year number and a rolling four-year average to determine the academic accountability. The teams have to maintain a variety of 930 to fight championships and avoid potential punishments.

“At NCCU, the motto of our football team is” culture about scheme “, and this milestone reflects this philosophy directly,” said Oliver. “We not only develop football players. We develop scientists, leaders and men of characters. This achievement proves that Excellence in the field and in the classroom when they create a program for discipline, accountability and family.
