NTSB published photos of fatal Hudson River crash and publishes more information

Witness photos published on Wednesday by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) show the tour helicopter, which crashed into the Hudson River on April 10, and broke apart in the middle of the air before they plunged into the water and killed six people.

Although the cause of the crash remains unknown, a preliminary report from the NTSB issues several witnesses that come from the Bell 206L 4 aircraft before it broke “suddenly” in three main sections in the middle of the air and fell into the river.

Photos show that the fuselage – with the engine and main rotor blade assembly – is completely separated from the tail boom.

In a subsequent photo, the main rotor blades with the connected gear and roof structure could be seen separately from the fuselage.

The helicopter traveled in the city center of Manhattan/Wall Street in New York City and flew in a tear pattern south of the Statue of Liberty, as can be seen from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

It then went north along the east side of the Hudson River next to Manhattan, past George Washington Bridge, where it carried out a turning turn, and then drove south along the New Jersey side of the river.

When the aircraft approached the Holland tunnel testing storms near Jersey City, New Jersey, according to FAA, it increased the height of about 675 feet before falling off quickly. The last observed height was 125 feet.

The fuselage landed upside down north of the Holland tunnel testing towers, where the water depth was about 6 feet, according to the provisional report.

The main shooting and tail boom sections were found in about 30 feet water north of the fuselage.

According to the report, debris was also recovered from the surface of the river and a roof near the NJ Transit building in Hoboken, New Jersey.

The NTSB did not indicate that the helicopter collided with the building.

Although the plane was not equipped with video or data recording devices, photos of the pilot, which were taken shortly before the flight, showed computer-aided sunglasses that had video and audio recording functions, said officials.
