The US jury makes three Memphis police officers in mature Nichols who defeat death Dishes messages

A jury in the United States acquired three former police officers in the controversial death of Reichs Nichol, a 29-year-old father who was killed after a traffic stop in Memphis, Tennessee.

On Wednesday, the former officers Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley and Justin Smith were not found guilty in a case at the state level, the indictment for murder's second degree, serious bodily harm, serious kidnapping, official misconduct and official oppression.

This was her second criminal proceedings after he was also charged because of the death of Nichols.

In this case, the three officials were also acquitted from the most serious charges with which they were exposed to, although they were found guilty because of manipulations who supposedly tried to cover up the beats.

A total of five police officers were involved in the Nichols killings, which took place on January 7, 2023. When the video about the online spread of beating repeated the debate about the violence of law enforcement and overpolating black communities.

After the verdict, Steve Mulroy, district prosecutor of Memphis, said reporters that the family of Nichols was “destroyed” and “outraged”.

“We can understand why they would be outraged in view of the evidence,” said Mulroy.

“Was I surprised that a single guilty judgment in terms of counts or one of the less accused crimes in view of the overwhelming evidence we presented was not available? Yes, I was surprised,” he added. “Do I have an explanation for it? No.”

All five police officers involved in the blows were members of the Scorpion Unit of the Memphis Police Department, a now dissolved squad that focused on alleged crime hotspots in the city. The outcry after Nichol's death caused it to be dissolved.

On the day of his murder, Nichols were supposedly ruthlessly driven, although the prosecutors have received this motive for doubts, which indicated that police bodies show no evidence of misconduct.

Officers Nichols pulled out of his car and drove him as he was on the floor. Nichols then tried to flee. He joined a residential area, not far from his mother, where the five police officers wrestle him to the ground and hit him, beat and beat him.

Cameras conquered Nichols who addressed his mother to his mother to get help. He died in the hospital three days later. An autopsy identified his cause of death as a blunt force trauma.

Two of the police officers involved – Desmond Mill JR and Emmitt Martin – had avoided legal proceedings by increasing business with federal lawyers in exchange for culprit requests. According to reports, the two plea deals also took the charges with the state fees.

The verdict of Wednesday was the highlight of a nine -day court procedure for the other three officers.

The defense team for the three tried to blame the other officers for most of the violence. It also accused Nichols of resisting the arrest and not to comply with the police commands, and the officials are afraid for their security.

“This is Emmitt Martin and Tire Nichols '', said Martin Versmacht, a defender of Smith, one of the three officers.

Minister also claimed that credit and debit cards that did not belong to Nichols were found in his car after his beating. That, he told the jury, could declare Nichol's decision to flee from the scene.

But the prosecutors argued in the case that Nichols fled out of fear for his life. They also said that the officials were responsible for stopping the blows, which caused tears and bleeding in Nichols' brain.

The jury from different perspectives was also shown a video of the blows when the prosecutors tried to convey the violence of the last moments of Nichols.

In the trial in which seven hearings and two days of the jury's consultations took place, a majority -white area in Tennessee took place in Hamilton County. A judge had previously ordered that the court proceedings from Shelby County were pulled away where Memphis is located, for fear that public control could influence the jury pool.

The civil rights lawyer Ben Crump, who represented the Nichols family, published an explanation after the decision that the decision denounced the result.

“Today's judgments are a devastating miscarriage of the judiciary,” says the explanation. “The world observed how tires were not beaten by those who are sworn to protect and serve.”
