The Columbus Crime Center plans to apply for federal financing for the MS delegation

Columbus, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus City Leaders hope that federal money can help you combat crime.

For a second year, the city plans to request 2 million US dollars for Mississippi's congress delegation.

The money would be used to create a crime center that would not only help the police department of Columbus, but also agencies from all over the region to better examine, react and prevent crimes.

With difficulties in recruiting and setting new civil servants, they hope that the proposed center would increase the efficiency of the existing power.

A feature would be a hub that would allow an official to monitor all the region's crime observation cameras and free other civil servants to patrol and answer.

The financing from outside is currently in the air, the state has no budget yet and the federal expenses are frozen and cut.
