Court files show that Liam Payne died with a fortune of $ 40 million and no will

Seven months after the shocking death of Popstar Liam Payne, newly unveiled court files have confirmed that the former member One Direction died without will and has a 40 million dollar assets that are now managed by his ex-partner Cheryl and a lawyer in the music industry.

Payne, who died in October 2024 at the age of 31 after he had fallen from a Hotel Balcon in Buenos Aires, had an estate that had a total of 28.6 million GBP (38 million US dollars), the property, music license and personal assets were submitted to the United Kingdom. After debts and expenses, the net value of the estate was 24.3 million GBP, which corresponds to about $ 32.2 million.

Since Payne had no legal will at the time of his death, his estate is treated in England and Wales in accordance with the rules of Intestial. According to these laws, the estate of an unmarried person usually applies to their children if there is no surviving spouse or civil partner.

As a result, Payne's 8-year-old son Bear, whom he shared with singer Cheryl (formerly Cheryl Cole and Cheryl Tweedy), will inherit the full estate. In the meantime, Cheryl and the experienced musician Richard Mark Bray were granted with a limited representation. This means that you can keep and manage Payne's assets, but you cannot distribute any funds or complete the estate until a general grant is approved by the court.

Cheryl and Payne were in a relationship from 2016 to 2018 and welcomed Bear in March 2017. Although they had divided romantically, the two were still closely connected to their son's life.

After Payne's death, Cheryl gave an emotional public explanation, which called the event “Earth shocking”, and asked the media and fans to treat tragedy with sensitivity to bears. “Liam was not just a pop star and a celebrity,” she wrote, “he was a son, brother, a uncle, a dear friend and a father of our 7-year-old son. A son who now has to face reality never to see his father again.”

Payne's sudden death fascinated the fans all over the world. He became famous as a fifth of the One Direction. The boy band formed in 2010 on “The X Factor”, which sold over 20 million albums worldwide and became one of the best -selling acts of the decade. He later started a solo career, signed at Republic Records and published his debut album LP1 in 2019, which contained the hit single “Strip That Down”.

At the time of his death, Payne was in a relationship with influencer Kate Cassidy, who said she left Argentina just a few days before the fatal fall. In a later interview, Cassidy said Payne was in a “great place” and full of love when she last saw him. A postmorted found that the cause of death represented several traumatic injuries and internal bleeding. A toxicological report showed that at that time there were medication in the Payne system, which led to a criminal investigation into Argentina. At the beginning of this year, accusations for criminal negligence against three out of five people were dropped.

Since Cheryl and Bray now monitor the management of his estate of several million dollars, the focus will probably be on the preservation of Payne's legacy and ensure that Bär enables the financial security that made his father's career. But the emotional consequences remain.
