Pilot, mechanic after the plane crash in Lee County :: Wral.com

Two people are in the hospital after a small plane crashed in Lee County on Wednesday afternoon.

The Federal Aviation Administration said that a Diamond DA40 had crashed Executive Jetport, north of Sanford, shortly before the runway in Raleigh.

According to Highway Patrol, the plane crashed around 4:03 p.m. while it was hinting and driving at the airport. During the touch and walking, the plane bent into a field at the end of the runway.

Sky 5 flew over the scene as a pilot, which was later identified as Terry Gallagher, Duke Life Flight brought to the hospital with “critical” injuries. Another person, the planes of mechanics Scott Riley, was flown to UNC hospitals with serious injuries.

Several ambulances, fire engines and emergency vehicles were parked nearby.
