Health department. Published nationwide birth, marriage, death statistics for 2024

Wyoming – The Department of Important Statistics Services (VSS) of the Wyoming Department of Health shared its annual report and found that the state saw more than births, deaths and marriages and a little fewer divorces in 2024.

According to the report, 6,079 births were recorded among local mothers last year, which exceeded the 5,989 births of 2023. VSS indicates a remarkable nuance: 5,281 births were recorded within the state, which indicates that some residents were traveling to be born outside of Wyoming. In 2023, 5,337 births were recorded in the state.

Wyoming recorded 4,493 marriages in 2024, compared to 4,093 in the previous year. In 2022 there were 4,273 marriages that were preceded by 4,286 and 4.016 in 2020 in 2021. The divorce figures had decreased slightly, with 1,901 divorces completed in 2024, which dropped from 1,959 in 2023. 1,949 divorces were completed in 2022, from 2,183 in 2021 and 2,220 in 2020.

VSS announced that 5,725 deaths in the state were recorded in the state in the state last year. In 2023, 5,566 deaths were recorded that preceded 5,895 in 2022. The State Ministry of Health listed the five most important causes of death for Wyomingites last year to “different types of accidents” and destructive diseases as heart disease, types of cancer, chronic obstructive lung diseases (and related conditions). “Although it is not among Wyoming's top deaths, two specific areas of interest are still suicide and overdose deaths,” said WDH director Stefan Johansson about the press release. “The tragic and unexpected nature of these deaths can have a major impact on our communities.”

The state saw suicide last year 168, compared to 156 the year before and in 155 a year. VSS said that preliminary data gave that 88% of these suicides were male victims. A reported 72% of the suicide from 2024.

According to VSS, there were 97 deaths for overdoses last year, from 120 in the previous year and 110 in 2022. Illegal drugs were associated with 62% of the overdosed deaths of 2024. Opioids made up 45 of the deaths.
