The crash of a car into an after-school program building in Central Illinois in this week-one wreck, in which four people aged 7 to 18 and six other children were injured-did not seem to have been a targeted attack on Tuesday.

Nevertheless, the cause of the crash on Monday afternoon is examined in the YNOT program after the school in Chatham, the state police said when the community mourned and waiting for answers what led to.

Four people were killed in the crash: two 7-year-olds, an 8-year-old and an 18-year-old, said the police. Six other children were brought to hospitals to the region, one of which was in a critical condition on Tuesday morning. The crash occurred when a vehicle left a road “for unknown reasons”, traveled through a field and hit a page of the program building at around 3:20 p.m. CT – several people before leaving the other side, the police said in a press release on Tuesday morning.

The driver – the only resident of the vehicle – was not injured, but was taken to a hospital for evaluation, the state police said. Toxicological reports were pending, the state police said.

The names of the killed or injured names were not released immediately.

“The cause of the crash continues to be investigated, but this does not seem to be a targeted attack,” said the state police at the release on Tuesday. The authorities did not say whether the driver may have charged charges.

The video of the scene Monday showed a large building, similar to a gym, with a hole on the floor. Several law enforcement vehicles could be seen and a helicopter was flown across the area.

The Chatham police referred questions to the state police. CNN was looking for a comment from the post -school program.

The operator of the after-school program, Ynot Outdoors, says that there is “three-hour, postdismic, latchic care for school representatives”. Ynot stands for “youth who need other things” according to the organization website, which also operates a summer camp. Chatham, a village with around 14,000 people, is about 10 miles south of the state capital Springfield.

Reported the Glenwood Middle School in Chatham from Tuesday morning consultation services, reported CNN affiliate wall. The classes in the Ball-Chatham school district are carried out via an e-learning for this day, and all extra-curricular activities are canceled, a district spokesman told the wand.

The school district will “focus on the well -being of students”, since “we mourn for four children,” said David Kimsey, President of Chatham Village, on Monday.

“Words fail in a time of tragedy and it becomes impossible to collect coherent thoughts in the middle of such a loss,” wrote Kimsey in a Facebook post.

Governor JB Pritzker said on Monday that his administration “monitors” the crash. “My heart is difficult for these families and the unimaginable grief that they experience – something that no parent ever has to endure,” he said in a release.

“If you believe in the power of prayer, please take a moment to pray for the entire Chatham community,” said the Chatham police on your Facebook page. “A terrible tragedy occurred here that affected us all.”
