The Hopkinsville police are organizing the first Trivia night in Crime Stopers

True crime fans in Hopkinsville have the chance to test their knowledge while they support a good cause this Friday.

The Hopkinsville police authority will organize its first Trivia night on May 9th in the Hopkinsville Brewing Company.

“On Friday, May 9th in the brewery, we will hopefully organize our first of the true crime trivia with Crime Stopper,” said Royale Marfil, public information officer from the Hopkinsville. “We will be there from 6 to 8.”

The event will contain teams of up to six people with an entry fee of $ 150 per team. This fee includes food and drinks for the participants.

“Everyone gets a beverage card and they receive two large three topping pizzas with everything,” said Marfil. “So we give you food, we get a few drinks and you are there to go to Trivia.”

While Marfil did not give away any specific questions, she indicated that topics of notorious figures such as Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy can include.

“I don't know about certain questions, but we would probably ask questions about Jeffrey Dahmer, maybe Gacy,” she said.

The Trivia night also fulfills a greater purpose – to collect money for the money premiums of crime stopers, which are offered for anonymous tips that help to solve crimes.

“As a police officer, we cannot be in the city every second of every day,” said Marfil. “So we really have to rely on community members to be vigilant. And if you see a criminal or suspicious activity, you can call anonymously in crime stopers. And with this information, if this leads to an arrest of someone, you are entitled to a cash reward.”

Marfil assures that all tips on crime stopers are completely anonymous.

“Our tip line is all anonymous. We don't know any names or telephone numbers – everything is driven on callers,” she said. “If you give me a tip and some information, I give you instructions to recall myself at a certain time at a certain time.”

So far, the department has registered 6 teams for the event on Friday.

“We have a lot of space. We accept up to 14 teams,” said Marfil. “You can find all information on the Hopkinsville Police Department Facebook or on the Crime Stopper page.”
