Young people killed in accidental shootout in Mebane, says the police, says the police

Mebane, NC (WTVD) – A young person is dead after a random shooting in Mebane on Wednesday.

The Mebane police said that the officials had answered reports on shots who found a vehicle in the area and a young person with a critical injury near the intersection of the West Lee Street and the South First Street shortly before 7:55 p.m.

The young person was taken to the hospital, where they died later.

The police said a weapon was recovered from the scene and a preliminary investigation showed that the weapon was accidentally derived.

During the investigation, the police later confirmed forensic evidence that a single round had been fired from the vehicle.

The authorities said there was no threat to public security.
