2025 Fedex Small Business Trade Index shows the influence of trade on business decisions

Washington, DC, April 29, 2025 – Fedex Corp. published today today (NYSE: FDX) his 2025 Fedex Small Business Trade Index, a survey that looks at an insight into the view and navigation for small and medium -sized companies (SMB). The ninth iteration of the index is carried out by the morning consultation from March 25 to 31, 2025 and shows the strong participation of the SMB managers in the global markets. 61% of those surveyed found that they were and imported 76% that develop products from other countries in Germany.

Despite obstacles such as high fees, taxes and regulatory complexity, the SMB managers still have mostly positive views on global trade: 89% say that trade is the key to the economic growth of the United States, and 78% believe that increased trade shops benefit their companies. Remarkably, 85%say if they are asked to compare their views of trade a decade ago and state that they support global trade more today. These results match the annual trade index results. When the survey was initiated in 2016, 71% of the SMB managers recorded increasing global trade as an improvement in the US economy, and today this number has increased by more than 18 percentage points to 89%.

“The Global Trade opened doors for our business that simply did not exist a decade ago,” said Dana Donofree, founder and CEO of Anaono, a small business in Pennsylvania. “Customs and shifts of the supply chain have created real challenges and influenced our ability to provide products for our customers. Trade is not just part of our strategy, but is of central importance for our business.”

This feeling was shared by the majority of the respondents, with 73% of the US and medium-sized company leaders gave that tariffs were an obstacle internationally for their business.
