Take a look at the video: Today we and our students have joined ourselves

Today was a historical day for our USD CAS NTT faculty union. We have proven that we will not allow the university to break strikes against the law with the first day of our unfair Labor Practice (ULP)!

We reached the line bright and early at 7 a.m. and solidarity was in the air when we were accompanied by our families, our students, our community and even our pets.

At lunchtime we organized a rally in which the faculty members spoke powerfully about the realities of the lessons of the non-tenure route and how the way USD did not respect to us, our students and our school by reinforcing the law, only our determination to change the status of our union and our collective voice.

The students also spoke out with strong statements on support and solidarity.

Lorena Gonzalez, President of the California unions and a member of the former member of the CA State Assembly, added the choir of support for our cause.

After the rally, dozens of faculties, students and other supporters marched through the campus to provide Hundreds of Petitions to President Harris' office, which demanded a fair negotiation process and a fair contract.

In front of the administrative building, the union members once again talked about our working conditions and asked the university to live its given values. We were accompanied by Kate Boersma, member of the faculty stopped, as representatives of our permanent colleagues.

We presented our petitions to the USD lawyer Tom Skinner, who promised to solve our problems at the table at the end of the semester.

We then went back into the line and continued our Ulp strike strike in the evening.

The first day of our two-day Ulp strike sent a powerful message. We will not allow USD try to break our union. You cannot cut courses on one side without negotiating with us, about the effects! You cannot ignore labor law to try to maintain the status quo.
